Feeling God-Conscious On The TTC

“Bring yourself into the present moment by carefully registering your surroundings with all your senses: listen to the sounds of the subway, feel your hard plastic seat and the weight and texture of the fabric of your clothes, become aware of your body and breath. Then, look around at people in your car (subtly of course). Three Beautiful Things: Canada Edition

While my father rarely shared details about his past, he often speaks fondly of his time at the University of Toronto as well as the University of British Columbia. I haven’t visited Vancouver yet (coming soon), but Toronto I’ve visited plenty. From asking for a “double double” at Tim Horton’s, to calling my male companions, ‘guy’ and telling my friend Pari that she is both “Yonge and Dundas,” Toronto provides endless adventure.

The Day That Azam Kicked Me

“One of the things I’m grateful for is children who challenged me when I was wrong, even though they had to suffer my wrath.” – My Father

On a Monday afternoon, roughly three years ago, a group of my friends and I drove over to Walker Bros. Pancake House (Hello, Apple Pancake!). As we settled in, Azam sat across from me as our waitress handed us menus. A few minutes in to some pleasant conversation, one of our mutual friends began to tell a story. I wasn’t listening, and continued to laugh, and comment while he was speaking. To be quite honest, I was being downright obnoxious. And I knew it.
