Little Mosque On The Prairie: Butt Pinches

According to the Canadian TV show’s web site, –
Little Mosque On The Prairie is an unabashedly comedic look at a small Muslim community interacting with the denizens of a little prairie town. The sitcom reveals that although different, we are all surprisingly similar when it comes to family, love, the generation gaps and our attempts to balance our secular and religious lives while trying to understand those of others in the community.
I. Love. This. Show.

A few years ago, the creator of the show, Zarqa Nawaz interviewed me for her documentary “The Mosque And Me.” As it was my first interview on camera, I didn’t do so well. I don’t even think I got a full sentence in without stuttering like a fool. Zarqa has obviously been busy since then, and her hard work paid off.
Many people will say Little Mosque it lacks modesty, and is lewd. If it wasn’t scandalous in their eyes, I probably wouldn’t watch it. It’d be mind-numbing. While it does add drama to everyday issues within the Muslim community, I think it accurately reflects our diversity, while also simultaneously bursting the bubbles of both the crazy right-wingers and the wildly left-wing. In episode two, for example, you’ll see both a fascinating commentary on the right-wing radio host as well as the western-feminists who come and try to save the Muslim women.
It is done with humor in such a way that it brings about some very relevant points.
And for the record (or not): I also want my wife to pinch my butt in the mosque when no one is looking.
